The Lotus Educational Group is currently fundraising monies that will make it possible to host a 'Harm Reductionist' retreat in Boulder, Colorado in 2020.
We envision a Friday night with a well-known 'Harm Reductionist' as a Keynote and reception. Saturday will begin with a continental breakfast and meet and greet. Then another well-known 'Harm Reductionist' will be a keynote speaker. Following that, there will be breakout session groups led by progenitor 'Harm Reductionists' such as representatives from State Attorney general's offices, physicians that are changing the way that pain management is talked about with patients, family members that have lost loved ones to opioid medication overdose and have organized 'Harm Reduction' organizations, leaders from public 'harm reduction' (HR) organizations, members of youth initiatives involved in 'HR' activities, politicians working to to reduce harm in the crisis, activists involved in 'HR', journalists that cover the unfolding crisis, state officials working to change outcomes, and more.
The day will close with another important keynote and a reception to bring all participants together to talk and mingle.
Sunday will be a half-day to accommodate participants travel. After the continental breakfast there will be goal-setting gatherings where participants will be assigned to inter-group sessions to discuss and collaborate on solutions, next steps, time-lines, agreements, actions needed. Attainable and measurable goals will be set using the 'bullseye' model of envisioning the desired effect on individuals, the community, states, and the nation.
